Fire Hydrant Flushing Program

The Town of Woodstock will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community during the week of July 9th – 13th between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am....

Hydrant flushing helps to keep water lines free of deposit buildup and to check the mechanical operation of fire hydrants and valves. Regular flushing is necessary to provide better water quality and fire protection. This program allows our crews to perform minor repairs to hydrants in order to ensure continued operation.

Customers may experience periods of lower water pressure and/or discoloration of their water during flushing. If you experience discolored water, run your cold-water tap until it clears. During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold water clears. The hydrant flushing will also result in possible water on the roadways. Drivers are asked to take extra care during this time.

If you have any questions, please contact the Woodstock Town Office at (540) 459-3621, or Department of Public Works at (540) 459-3045 (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.)
